The Para 3 is the Para Military 2 shrunk to a size that carries anywhere — same Compression Lock, same ergonomics, shorter blade. This is the CruCarta version.
"CruCarta" is Spyderco's pairing of canvas Micarta with CPM CRU-WEAR tool steel. It began as a limited Sprint Run, sold out immediately, and was promoted to the full line by popular demand.
CRU-WEAR is a tool steel rather than a stainless: it gives up some corrosion resistance and buys back an unusually good balance of edge retention and toughness. It is the steel to pick if you would rather the edge rolled than chipped.
The Micarta scales are a warm olive-brown, sanded smooth but deliberately left unpolished, so they take on a patina from your hands over the years. This knife will not look the same in five years, and that is the intention.
