The Xiphos is a SIG Sauer knife made with Eikonic — a compact, tactical-styled flipper with real working credentials. It is named after the short sword of ancient Greek soldiers, and like its namesake it is built to be carried and used.

The 3.31-inch tanto blade is Nitro-V, a nitrogen-enhanced stainless steel that offers good toughness, a fine edge and very good corrosion resistance at a sensible price. The tanto profile gives a strong, reinforced point for piercing and a straight primary edge for push cuts. The two-tone satin and dark stonewash finish hides scratches and looks sharp.

The brown G-10 handle is textured for a secure grip, with a liner lock and an anodised black aluminium backspacer that carries a built-in glass breaker. A stainless tip-up clip handles right-hand carry. At 102 g it is a solid but pocket-friendly everyday knife.
